The defeat of the muslims ended Islamic rule on the Iberian peninsula and the catholic monarchs of Castile forced the Jewish population to either convert or flee into exile. - Anne de La Roche-Guilhem (1644-1710) was a French protestant who emigrated to England after 1685. She wrote several books on Spanish history or set in Spain and also translated from the Spanish.
