To a recipient named Fosse, concerning the successul auditioning of a young man at the Paris Conservatory: "Ce n'est qu'aujourd'hui que je trouve un instant pour répondre à votre aimable lettre. J'ai bien reçu la visite du Mr. Terront [?] accompagné de son fils, ce dernier, très sympathique, a fait une excellente impression sur Dirmann [?] auquel j'ai pu le recommander avant le concours. Vous connaissez le résulat et je puis ajouter que dès la 1re épreuve mon ami Widor le considérait comme déjà presque acquit [...]". - While the candidate and the first professor mentioned could not be identified, Hasselmans's "friend Widor" is very likely the composer and organist Charles-Marie Widor who taught at the Paris Conservatory. - On stationery with printed letterhead. Well preserved.
