It was remarkable, partly through its volume of several hundred paintings, sculptures and pieces of furniture, partly through the narrative power of the works, and finally by the striking installation-like set up: Immendorf had constructed an entire Lidl Village, a kind of oppositional Dadaist parallel society - an idea he got as a revolutionar academy student back in the 1960s at Joseph Beuys school of painting in Düsseldorf. The Village consisted of eight bright red houses with terraces that could be climbed. Within they functioned as actual muse-ums abounding with Immendorffs narrative works, so rieh in material. We saw examples of experimental action art of the 1960s, across his radical leftist probings of the 1970s, in addition to his fabulous and punky historical paintings from the late 1970s and 1980s - pictures that were to decisively influence the young, wild painters in Denmark - all the way to the more mythological and formal template paintings from the new millennium, born and sampled on the Computer. Red foot paths connected the buildings that from above looked like a heart with ventricles and blood vessels. "

Wenn man bedenkt, dass Museen Kulturapparate und somit Institutionen sind, die Regeln aufstellen, was ist dann ein Kunstmuseum, wenn nicht eine Institution, deren Funktion darin besteht, die Kunst an bestimmte Regeln anzupassen, die der Unbotmäßigkeit, die jeder echten künstlerischen Manifestation innewohnt und deren Auftreten und/oder Gestaltung immer eine Abweichung darstellt, schmeicheln oder sie zu beschwichtigen versuchen? Wenn die Funktionen des Museums darin bestehen, zu sammeln, zu forschen und auszustellen, und es sich folglich verpflichten muss, zu dokumentieren, zu restaurieren und in vielen Fällen zu reproduzieren, um zu bewahren, dann kann man behaupten, dass es dies auf der Grundlage einer Reihe von Normen tut, Regeln, die am Ende das exklusive Potenzial jedes Werks in seiner Sammlung schmälern. / PT:Muito bom exemplar. - Texto: Português / Catálogo da exposição no Museu de Arte Contemporânea, São Paulo. / No filme Je vous salue Samvejo (1993), de Jean-Luc Godard, em certo momento, no meio de sua fala contundente, o cineasta declara:""... a cultura é a regra, a arte é a exceção"". Se o museu tem como funções colecionar, pesquisar e exibir e, como corolário deve, portanto, comprometer-se em documentar, restaurar e, em muitos casos, reproduzir para preservar, é possível afirmar que o faz a partir de uma série de normas, regras que acabam, no limite, por diminuir o potencial exclusivo de cada obra existente em seu acervo.
